GOTO INC was established as an optical equipment manufacturer in 1926 and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2016. We have always adopted new technology and developed new astronomical products, including planetarium projection systems.
Our customers are mainly science museums and schools who provide the best science education and we are proud that our products have contributed to their science education widely.
Anticipating the 100th anniversary of our company in 2026, we will continue to develop the best planetarium systems to reproduce realistic and beautiful starry skies, and to adopt the latest technologies to make superior planetariums for another hundred years.

Our Founding Spirit and Corporate Philosophy
■ Our Founding Spirit
The inspiration for our company harks back to 1910, when a young Seizo Goto caught a glimpse of Halley's Comet. Seizo went on to establish his new corporation in September 01, 1926, Since that time, GOTO has played a major role in the education of astronomy and science in Japan. Seizo's great-grandson, Nobutaka Goto now leads the company following the family's dedication to the highest ideals.
The official Japanese name of GOTO INC. can be translated to “Goto Optical Research Institute” rather than “Goto Optical Engineering Co.” or “Goto Optical Production Co." The official Japanese name represents our predecessors’ desire to maintain the corporate culture, in which all employees continue studying something while exercising their routine jobs.
Seizo Goto would always say, “Sell our name and brand. Never imitate anyone else. Think creatively and open up possibilities by your own hand.” Faithful to the founding spirit, we present our products as tools that incite interest among our clients and are useful for their customers. In tribute to our founder, we will keep creating original products that no one else can imitate.

GOTO has been involved in the fields of astronomy, outer space and scientific visualization throughout its long history. The products we have delivered and installed in Japan and around the world have contributed to formal school curricula as well as lifelong learning. GOTO INC's founder, Mr. Seizo Goto was very fond of the Japanese iconic landmark, Mt. Fuji. So when it was time to design a logo for his new company, he combined the profile of the mountain with the lens shapes of the optics company, and a crescent moon. Look closely, and you will see the spirit of GOTO INC, even today.
