| Keeping Eye on Evolving Universe |
 |
|
■ Delivering inspiration from deep in the Universe |
 |
 |
GOTO has continued to look into the beauty of the infinite Universe for over 80 years - since 1926
when it was founded as a manufacturer of astronomical telescopes. Our telescopes are able to capture
the faintest of light from the Universe. They are user-friendly observation tools that enable you
to see outer space with your own eyes. GOTO will keep engaged in the development of large-scale
telescopes in an effort to deliver images of the Universe to new generations of stargazers.

■ Remote Control Telescopes |
 |
|
GOTO telescopes cannot only be operated directly by hand but also may be remotely controlled over
LAN from a nearby staff room or laboratory, or over the Internet from a classroom or home anywhere
in the world. The operator at a remote location can maneuver the telescope in real time. He can shoot
photographs of astral bodies using a cooled CCD camera, and retrieve such images from the database. It
is also possible to order the computer to open the dome at a predetermined time, shoot images
of stars, and store the images in the database. Optional precipitation sensors and a lightning
sensor can override the order entered into the computer if weather conditions demand it.

■ Scope of observation extends in universe |
 |
 |
You can build a group observation system by selecting and installing an array of
telescopes matching the purpose of your observation. Individual telescopes can be
controlled simultaneously or independently. This is the optimum method for teaching youth
groups the sky.
An observatory on wheels with a 20cm/25cm Coude mounted on the roof of the vehicle
can travel anywhere on land. It is defined by far higher utilization than in immobile
observatories. The mobile observatory is equipped with AV devices that will entertain the
audiences if the observation is cancelled due to clouds, for example. The vehicle is
tailor-made, available in all sizes from a compact car to a truck that can be driven
with an ordinary license.

The NC-R550a is a high-resolution television camera that can upset the common perception
of astronomical photography. It uses the EM-CCD next generation shooting device that
records vivid color images both in still and full motion forms even in darkness.

■ Robust notebook for astronomical observation |
 |
|
GOTO sells the ShieldPRO Astro Model notebook computer, suitable for astronomical
observations, made by NEC Corporation. The computer is designed to withstand severe
weather conditions in the field.
It is also available as an option for the Astrocar mobile observatory.
Its backlit keyboard can be used in darkness with no need of external lighting.
It is resistant to dew and dust, and can be used below freezing.
Potential users include amateur astronomers, observatory officials,
teachers and researchers.
