Second full-sphere projection system installed at Fukushima Prefectural Government Environmental Creation Center

Eleven years ago, a “full-sphere screen projection system” was installed by GOTO INC in the "Earth Room” at Japan’s Pavilion Nagakute, in Expo 2005. The Expo, in Aichi, Japan had an amazing 22,000,000 visitors in just a 6 month run. The system was hugely popular for its innovation and full immersive video environment. The spherical screen and projection system was moved to the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno, Tokyo at the end of Expo 2005 in Aichi. At present, it exists there as a popular permanently facility called “THEATER 360” and provides original shows to large audiences.
And now, 11 years after Expo 2005, the hugely popular full sphere screen projection system has been updated and delivered to Fukushima Prefectural Government Environmental Creation Center, Information and communication Building, (Also known as Comyutan Fukushima ).

The diameter of the spherical screen is 12.8m - equivalent to one millionth the size of Earth. The projection system for the full sphere screen has 3.5 times the number of pixels as full HD (2K) and has extremely pure color through the use of the newest laser phosphor video projection technology.
GOTO’s own VIRTUARIUM X system, the result of more than 20 years of innovation in the fulldome video industry and our longtime experience in the dome projection field was capitalized upon in the creation of this projection system. The full-sphere image is projected by 12 projectors blended into a seamless whole, where each projector’s image edge is invisible.
GOTO’s special theater design and projector layout ensures that no shadow of the transparent pedestrian bridge is visible anywhere on the sphere.

The audience standing on the bridge of transparent panels experiences the illusion that they are actually inside the projected image world.
