At the IPS (International Planetarium Society*) conference 2024 held in Berlin, IPS Technology and Innovation Award 2022 was given to Makoto Kasahara, GOTO’s executive director and R&D engineer. This prestigious award is given for an individual who contributes to inventive technological development and innovation in the planetarium field. His achievement in incorporating unprecedented innovative features into our optical and digital planetariums and telescope systems ahead of other companies was highly recognized and made him a worthy recipient of this award.
Upon receiving the award, Kasahara commented:
“The award proved that our technique and creativity was appreciated, which was achieved not only by myself but also by all my team members. The stimulus that we receive from the planetarians as well as visitors to planetariums is a driving force for our technical development and creativity. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude for recognizing our efforts and presenting me with this wonderful award. We will continue to purse technical innovation and strive for continuous development to provide even better products and services.”
