CHRONOS II HYBRID into Brno Observatory, Czech RepublicFirst GOTO HYBRID in the Czech Republic

The city of Brno can be found in the Czech Republic – the heart of Europe – about halfway between Prague and Vienna. There, starting in 1954 with a modest observatory and then adding a planetarium in 1991, the city has built the Brno Observatory and Planetarium.
Then, after extensive renovations, on October 31, 2013, the planetarium reopened as a GOTO HYBRID Planetarium®. The 8,500 stars of the GOTO CHRONOS II projector are synchronized with fulldome video in a wonderful mix of images, motion, color, sound, and light. Already a popular destination atop the city's highest hill, the planetarium is on track to increase its attendance by more than 50% after the installation of the HYBRID.

At 17 meters, the 188-seat dome is one of the largest ever to utilize the CHRONOS II. But the CHRONOS II's pure LED stars shine brightly overhead. The fulldome video system uses two 4K video projectors, and a full complement of LED cove lights, 5.1 audio system, custom theatre seats, a new dome showing no seams, and a separate production room with mini-dome for video testing round out the beautiful finishes of this totally-renovated facility.
GOTO's first installation in the Czech Republic is in Brno. But already another in Ostrava, CZ is scheduled for early 2014. And the GOTO HYBRID revolution continues to sweep through Europe.
