HYBRID PLANETARIUM

It’s a Harmony between stars and video images

GOTO HYBRID Planetarium®s are the new generation in planetarium systems, combining the beautiful starry sky projected by opto-mechanical projectors with fulldome digital video systems which bring dynamic colorful images to the dome such as proper motion of stars, space flight, and other astronomical images.
So the gorgeous starry sky projected by the opto-mechanical projector is joined by constellation figures, lines, names, and other images which are projected by fulldome digital video systems and precisely positioned over the stars on the dome screen.
While the resolution of today’s video projectors continues to improve, allowing 4K (4,000 pixels wide) and even 8K scenes, the resolution of GOTO opto-mechanical projectors is equivalent to nearly 70K which is far better than any video images. GOTO firmly believes that planetariums should use the projector that does the best job for each task. For stars, sun, moon, and planets, opto-mechanical projectors should be used. For the other dynamic colorful images, fulldome video systems should be used.
GOTO HYBRID Planetarium® system offers center-mounted video projector placement so that any shadows caused by the opto-mechanical projector are eliminated altogether.
GOTO INC continues to evolve the HYBRID planetarium, combining the beautiful starry sky with dynamic video images.

Feature of the GOTO HYBRID Planetarium®

  • Enjoy not only a beautiful starry sky but also dynamic video images. So totally new uses can be found for imagery in the dome.
  • Users can choose the opto-mechanical planetarium projector and fulldome digital systems according to their needs, purpose, and facility size. All of the opto-mechanical planetarium projector are hybridized with Digistar series supplied by Evans & Sutherland, SkyExplorer series supplied by RSA Cosmos and Goto’s own Virtuarium X.
  • Both the opto-mechanical planetarium and fulldome image systems can be easily operated from a single HYBRID control console. This superior control allows live presentations about astronomy as well as other sciences.
