Over two decades-old planetariums were revitalized and re-opened with CHIRONⅢ HYBRID in the spring of 2019.

In the planetarium world, change is the constant. That is, nothing stays the same forever. New innovations, new ideas, aging equipment trigger changes. And at GOTO, we embrace change as the way we move forward.

We also love pumping new excitement into older, existing planetariums through dynamic renovation projects. In 2019, GOTO was proud to have been chosen to revitalize about two decades-old planetariums which re-opened to the public in April of 2019.

Kurashiki Science Center

Kurashiki Science Center opened in 1993 with "GSS-HELIOS" projector in a 21m tilted dome and after over two decades, GSS-HELIOS projector has been replaced by new GOTO CHIRONⅢ projector (special color for Kurashiki) which synchronizes with a 4K VIRTUARIUM X fulldome system and 10K video panorama in a HYBIRD configuration!
This change brings a whole new range of presentation possibilities. Now operators of live programs can use the CHIRONⅢ to show the most realistic and beautiful night skies as seen from earth, or can use GOTO VIRTUARIUM X fulldome system to fly through the cosmos, or use both systems together to offer a complete, immersive sky visualization system.

Sanuki Kodomonokuni

Sanuki Kodomonokuni opened in 1995 with "GSS-HELIOS" projector in a 20m tilted dome and a fulldome projection system "VIRTUARIUMⅡ" was added in 2010.
After over two decades, as a symbol of "Childcare Prefecture Kagawa", they decided to update the system for aiming to "energize" facilities by giving dreams and hope to children.
The new system is “CHIRONⅢ HYBRID” which consists of new GOTO CHIRONⅢ projector and the existing fulldome projection system VIRTUARIUMⅡ with new e-shift 8K video projectors. CHIRONⅢ shows the most realistic and beautiful stars and 8K resolution VIRTUARIUMⅡ shows dynamic scenes like fly through the cosmos. This hybrid system offers a complete, immersive sky visualization.
Now operators of live programs can use a tablet PC as a mobile console to perform interactive projection with audience while looking at their faces.
As a new feature, a 9.1 channel digital sound system and special deep reclining seat that allows audience to enjoy the starry sky in a lying posture have been introduced.
