Searching beyond the edge of the Universe

We have long tried to find out what is out there in an unknown world ever since we existed on earth. A feeling of curiosity with a question of “Why?” led us to develop a form of science and chase after the horizon in the vast universe. From Geocentric theory to Heliocentric theory, from Steady-state cosmology to Big Bang theory, through the historical figures observing the stars, a fulldome digital planetarium film HORIZON gets to the bottom of the space exploration.

STORY
The Universe is expanding… based on the Edwin Hubble’s discovery, Lemaître discovered the fact that the universe is expanding. But this theory was not accepted then. However, 38 years later, radio waves coming from all directions were detected for the first time. It is called the cosmic microwave background (CMB) and an important source of data on the early universe flying through the 13.8 billion years since the beginning of the universe. Long-held aspiration and devotion of those who tried to see beyond the edge of the universe is coming to fruition.

SUPERVISOR Eiichiro Komatsu (Director of the Department of Physical Cosmology, Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik, Germany)

He contributed as a major researcher in the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP). In particular, based on his observation across the sky in the cosmic microwave background (CMB), he published a paper about measuring cosmological parameters which is one of the most important questions in the modern-day cosmology. Since then, this paper has been the most cited paper ever.
He is not only supervising the content of this film but he also appears as himself in this film.
